Lung disease caused by vaping kills 31 people. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) called this illness ‘EVALI’; experts say they are not yet sure what causes EVALI. The name stands for “e-cigarette or vaping product use-associated lung injury.”

Two more people died in Minnesota, increasing the number of EVALI deaths to three.

About 1300 people ended up ill or with breathing difficulties caused by vaping products.

US health officials believe there might be more than one cause for the deaths and illnesses caused by vaping products.

Vaping oils contain THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis. It is risky, but still, THC is not related to the cases that caused death or breathing difficulties.

Health officials believe that every country might have various illness sources.

Doctors must be especially careful and observant of patients who inured their lungs after vaping or ended up with an unrelated respiratory infection.

During the summer months, the CDC advised doctors to exclude any infections before deciding the patient’s lungs were injured by vaping. But, during the summer, there were not that many respiratory infections like flu. Now things are a bit more complicated.

Many patients who had vaping injures recovered successfully and were released from the hospital. Later they were readmitted. However, it is not still very clear whether these patients returned to vaping and got another lung injury of the same type.

So far, twenty-two countries have reported vaping-related deaths. Georgia has reported two such deaths.
